The Different Blackjack Variants

The most popularly played blackjack variant is blackjack 21. Though not as many as poker variants, there are also a good number of other blackjack variants.

To start with, there's Spanish 21. This blackjack game is fun because there are bonuses given in addition to the regular prizes. Bonuses are for a hand composed of 5 cards but whose total does not exceed 21. Hands with 6-7-8 or three 7s also get a bonus. In Spanish 21, however, there are no 10s in the deck. However, face cards (K, Q, J) remain on the deck.

Of all the blackjack variants, it's only in 21st Century Blackjack that a player can still push even if one already busts. Player's hand pushes on two conditions: one, the dealer also busts, and two, the dealer's hand total is higher than the player's. This game is also known as las vegas style blackjack.

Double Exposure Blackjack is one those blackjack variants with high house edge. In Double Exposure Blackjack, both of the dealer's cards are dealt face-up. Blackjack, however, pays 1:1 only. Also, when dealer and player tie, the player loses.

In Double Attack Blackjack, dealer's hand is again dealt face-up. The player has the option of adding more money to their wager after seeing the dealer's hand.

Chinese Blackjack is a variant popularly played in Asia. Chinese Blackjack does not allow splitting of cards.

Vingt-et-un is the French variant and Siebzehn und Vier is the German variant of blackjack. In both blackjack variants, the corresponding value of an Ace is 11, yet two Aces count as blackjack. No splitting is allowed in these blackjack variants also.

Blackjack Switch is the only one among blackjack variants where players get two hands instead of one. What's more, the player even has the option of switching a card from the first hand with a card from the second hand. However, natural blackjack here pays even money only.

Some casinos offering the standard 21 blackjack make the game even more exciting by offering side bets. One such side bet is known as Royal Match. In Royal Match, a player wins on the side bet if their first two cards are of the same suit. If they have a King and Queen of the same suit, the pay is even higher. If both the dealer and the player have King and Queen, the player'd even get a jackpot bonus!

When some rules are modified, this results in the creation of new blackjack variants. Blackjack variants add a twist to blackjack gambling. As a result also, some of these blackjack variants have increased house edge. When selecting a blackjack variant, it would always be a most winning choice to play a game that's not only fun but, most importantly, with low house edge.
